Jerome Baker

Minneapolis, MN U.S.A.

Since the early 90's, Jerome Baker aka DJ Boris aka Lord Damian aka Dorian Baker has been an underground staple, while purposely traveling below the radar of the mainstream. An original "pitdweller", Jerome earned his stripes ON the dancefloor first. In the early 80's to 90's jacking in Chicago's notorious slamdance "pits", he learned how a party should be beat by DJ's like DJ Rush, Gene Farris, Lil' Louis, Armando, and Boo Williams before moving on to "beating the brakes" off the party himself. Between 95' and 2000 he released 7 EP's on Relief Records, Contact, Farris Wheel, Physics, Missle & Creation Rebel. He has banged parties all over the world, from countless warehouse parties, raves and clubs in his hometown Chicago, to raves and clubs in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Colorado, Wisconsin & Minnesota just to name a few. He has also taken his brand of Relentless tracks overseas to places like Nantes, France, Paris, France, Klagenfurt, Austria, & Munich, Germany. He has played with some of the best DJ's in the business, including Gene Farris, DJ Rush, Boo Williams, Derrick Carter, Paul Johnson, DJ Sneak, Green Velvet, Hyperactive and DJ ESP. Jerome (DJ Boris) was even called DJ Rush's "step brother of the mind" on Rush's "Doin it to Death" LP. No longer content to travel below the radar, Jerome returns to the sounds of the underground after a 6 year hiatus, to join the "Next Generation" of DJ's and artists makin dance floors move. He takes it back to where it started for him, Relief Records, with a bangin Ep entitled "Relentless Muzik Vol 1". The Ep has done extremely well and is being banged and supported by techno heavyweights like Carl Cox, who charted "Move Them Hips" in his top ten, Green Velvet who put "I Need" on his Ministry of Sound mix cd, as well as Cari Lekebusch, Roman Zowadny, and the Tattoo Detectives all banging and supporting the ep. Be clear: The next EP Vol 2: Cut From A Different Cloth, drops in January 2007 on Relief Records and Jerome promises Vol 2 will pick up where Vol 1 left off. He brings to the world of music tight bangin blends, speaker bustin EQ work, and Relentlessly beatin tracks from the start of his sets to the end. Jerome Baker is one DJ you NEED to hear and as a producer helped shape the sound of what we know of today as hard house. James Hammer and Jerome Baker will be featured in collaboration as "Bangers And Nash" here at Random Access Recordings.
