Rich.von.Dorf
Germany
The german bastardboy Rich.vom.Dorf. brings you soft and playful music straight from the village where he's living. Sometimes noisy, sometimes melodic with a good dose of breaks. Always something emotional for the heart.
He was born in 1981 in Eastern Germany and got in contact with electronic music in the early nineties. This new kind of music caught him like a virus the first time he was listening to mostly oldschool Gabba/Jungle traxx. In the beginning it was hard to get some electronic music by the countryside. But then the culture was growing bigger and bigger and he got fresh music and information from radioshows like RaveSatelite and newspapers like Raveline and Frontpage.
After a while, Rich wanted more than only to be a consumer of the music, he wanted to make his own music, so he bought a groovebox, some keyboards and used it together with guitar effects, a taperecorder and a little mixing desk. Some real wild soundscapes and beatz came out of these machines and the recorded tapes turned around among friends and others. But this equipment wasn't enough for him. He gave it away and turned to a computer because it offered more possibilities in music production. Then in 2002 there was the idea to run an internet project (something like a weblabel) together with some friends. It was called 'Silent-Village', but after one year of fun, party, and radioshows, the project was going down because of lack of teamwork. Sad, sad, but this did not stop him!
He released some stuff on different weblabels and in 2005. He won a competition organized by the German music magazine Keys with one of his trax. During years he was also working for various electronic music magazines (e.g. Raveline, FreshguideNordOst, SubcultureNordOst) as a freelancer and was writing little reports and made grfx work for them. Electronic music is his life - definitely!!! Rich's versitility ranges well beyond the usual dancefloor friendly minimal and techno tracks. His music is can be very expeiremental and ambient as well. You never know what is going ot come out your speakers next from Rich's brain!!! You can also check out some of Rich's releases on netlabels like: Sweet Smelling Surfaces, Inoquo, Tisch,Haushaltsware, and Nishi.
